Our education and outreach program is designed to provide students and adults with a hands-on learning experience on a working Gala apple orchard. The program's primary goal is to educate people about the art and science of orcharding, from the initial planting and nurturing of the trees to the harvesting and marketing of the fruit and byproducts like Cider, Baked goods, Soap and candles.
Through this program, students will have the opportunity to learn from experienced orchardists who will teach them about the various techniques and practices used in orchard management, such as irrigation, pest control, and pruning. The program will also cover the role of orchards in our ecosystem, including the importance of pollinators and the impact of orchard practices on the environment.
In addition to the practical aspects of orcharding, the program will incorporate classroom learning and discussions to deepen students' understanding of the subject matter. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in research projects, such as soil testing and fruit quality analysis, to gain a more in-depth understanding of the orchard ecosystem.
Overall, our education and outreach program aims to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience that will inspire students to appreciate the value of orcharding and encourage them to consider careers in agriculture.
We love our community, so feel free to set up a visit.
